The Manager, US Customs & Trade Compliance (CTC)will ensure compliance with Customs, FDA, USDA and other applicable government agencies, including but not limited to: Center for Disease Control, Census Bureau, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Communications Commission, Fish & Wildlife, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Foreign Assets Control et al. This person is primarily responsible for finalizing and executing our import compliance program but will also ensure alignment and support on the export compliance program. This role will work across functional program teams, both internal and external stakeholders, to ensure compliance is achieved and maintained while ensuring that overall organizational objectives are supported. This role requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented, experienced US Customs & Trade Compliance professional with a strong level of Customs and other government agency expertise. This person will work on the practical/operational day-to-day aspects of customs and trade compliance and also assist with defining and implementing simplified and harmonized processes both on a regional and global level.
General duties and responsibilities
• Support Associate Director US Customs & Trade Compliance, in ensuring compliance through the development and implementation of goals and objectives
• Primary focus is both import and export compliance
• Ensure compliance with Customs, FDA, USDA and all other government agencies
• Monitor, research and respond to information requests and official government notices in an accurate, complete and expedited manner: Customs, FDA, USDA, other government agencies, Customs brokers & internal stakeholders
• Assist with CTC Compliance Manual and associated SOP/work instructions review, recommend and implement revisions, process improvements and conduct training with Teva US (TUSA) CTC team members and Customs broker
• Perform Compliance reviews of imported items to ensure full Customs and OGA Compliance, including but not limited to: Free Trade Agreements, valuation, classification, import permits, etc.
• Suggest and where possible implement simplified & harmonized regional and global processes
• Support the internal audit program: monitor compliance, detect and resolve errors, determine root cause and corrective action and provide on-going training to internal and external stakeholders
• Assist with managing our electronic Customs recordkeeping system and Product Library
• Provide subject matter expert support (and training) to other departments: Commercial, Procurement, R&D, Clinical Supply, etc.
• Other projects and duties as required/assigned
Education Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree or HS Diploma + equivalent demonstrated work experience (5+ years of experience in import and export compliance)
Experience Required:
• Current US Customs Licensed Broker
• 5+ years experience working with US Customs and other agencies
Specialized or Technical Knowledge licenses, Certifications preferred:
• NCBFAA CCS (Certificated Compliance Specialist)
• Must maintain CCS while employed at Teva (earn annual credits as required by CCS)
Company / Industry Related knowledge:
• Experience working in a government regulated environment preferred
• Pharmaceutical experience preferred
