Job Description

Responsibilities

Influences the financial performance of a project by monitoring scheduling, forecasting, and cost control efforts.

Identifies and mitigates risks to minimize project delays and cost overruns.

Conducts regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.

Collaborates with engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve design issues and address any changes.

Closely monitors communicates risks, status etc. in project review meetings.

Drives the pursuit of claims & change orders, tracks and reports on progress.

Oversees procurement or Buy-out process to ensure it adheres to set budget.

Ensures the development & use of a CPM schedule throughout the life of the project.

Directs project contract management to review, address and resolve contractual issues & claims.

Establishes and promotes a safety culture.

Oversee procurement or Buy-out process to ensure it adheres to set budget.

Establishes and maintains relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.

Ensures subcontractors and suppliers are closely managed.

Mentors, coaches, provides feedback and evaluates the performance of employees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum Requirements and Experience:

Minimum 15 years of experience in heavy civil construction.

At least 5 years managing Design-Build transportation projects >$100M.

Demonstrated ability to:

Oversee design, construction, QA/QC, scheduling, and cost control.

Lead stakeholder engagement and public coordination efforts.

Resolve disputes and ensure full compliance with VDOT contract requirements.

Strong knowledge of VDOT Design-Build processes.

Experience managing projects involving complex interchanges and significant structural elements is strongly preferred.

Prior work in urban corridors and managed lane environments preferred.

Physical Requirements: Field/Operations Office - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to use fingers to grasp, move and manipulate small objects. The employee must use the stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand and understand the speech of another person. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds. Must be able to safely traverse an irregularly surfaced, open construction site, with minimal accommodation. The work environment will consist of moderate to high levels of noise (i.e. typical office noise up to and including an active construction project with heavy equipment). The employee must have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
